The Cortland Limbhangers Chapter
is a non profit local area conservationist group that facilitates youth events,
habitat projects, women's events, and fund raising banquets. We also act as
liaison and assist local/state wide media, other community groups, and the New
York State Department of Environmental Conservation. We represent the Upstate New York area primarily consisting of Cortland County, and surrounding
communities.
We operate under the guidelines and supervision of the
New
York State Chapter, and the
National Wild
Turkey Federation. We are funded by money raised thru the banquet system,
raffles, contest's, and superfund money authorized by the State Chapter for
major projects.
Our Mission
The Cortland
Limbhangers Chapter of the
National Wild Turkey Federation priorities, and goals are as follows:
-
The conservation of
the American Wild Turkey
-
The conservation of
our outdoor resources and habitat
-
Preservation of the
turkey hunting tradition.
-
To embrace and pass
on the values of respect, personal responsibility, land stewardship, and the
sense of family gained by the outdoors experience.
We work to accomplish our mission by working in conjunction
with the NWTF,
New
York State Chapter, New York Dept. of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC),
other National/State/Local outdoor conservation organizations, and with our many
volunteers forging relationships to unite these groups towards common goals
